Poudel’s panel announce candidacies

ram 5Kathmandu, March 2: A group in the Nepali Congress led by Acting President Ram Chandra Poudel has announced candidacies for the 13th national convention of the party being held in Kathmandu from March 3 to 6.

At a programme organized at party headquarters, Sanepa, on Wednesday, Acting President Poudel announced his candidacy for the president’s post while central leader Dr Sashank for general secretary.

On the occasion, Acting President Poudel said his candidacy was for new energy to the party and its strengthening. “It was NC’s dream to bring inclusive constitution from the CA. Now, it’s time to implement it and pave way for economic progress. This actually are the national agenda,” he said, arguing that only democratic socialism can bring socio economic change.

He further said, “I’ve decided to lead the party for entire transformation in the country.” The Acting President also said he was energized with the support and cooperation from sons of BP and Ganeshman- Sashank and Prakashman Singh respectively.
On the occasion, General Secretary Prakash Man Singh said NC abides by its principles. Poudel is a competent and dedicated leader to steer the party, he added.

Central member and former finance minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said the panel led by leader Poudel would be successful to address every pressing issue in the country.

The general secretary candidate Dr Koirala said he would move ahead in line with his grandfather’s inspiration, father’s thoughts and all leaders and cadres’ guide.

Sitaula group announce candidacy

Kathmandu, March 2: A group in the Nepali Congress led by General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula has announced the candidacies for the national convention of the party being held in Kathmandu from 3 to 6 March.

At a press conference, General Secretary Sitaula announced himself as the candidate to the post of President having central leaders Gagan Thapa as the candidate of General Secretary and Umakant Chaudhari of the treasurer.

The candidates said they would focus eliminating hacks and factionalism in the party and give a new vibe to party life. They argued that they were ready to represent the views of all leaders and convention representatives.

President candidate Sitaula said after the completion of peace process and constitution writing, time has come for the implementation of the constitution. Only a good leadership can effectively implement the national charter, he argued.

The general secretary candidate Thapa said, “I’ve not BP’s blood in my vein, but thoughts. Party runs not because of blood but thoughts. Every vein in me has BP’s thoughts. With this, I run the party.”
