Please allow Temporary Extension to stay for Nepalese Students & Workers

cameron
The recent earthquake of magnitude 7.9 on 25 April and aftershock 7.3 magnitudes on 12 May have already killed more than 9000 people where many are still missing and millions have been affected. The entire nation has been devastated on top of that frequent aftershocks have hindered the relief efforts. There is an extreme panic scenes hovering around where generations of families have been left traumatized. The world has united together for every possible way that they could offer to help Nepalese people. The damage of physical infrastructure has been so nominal than the mental damage, which is so huge that it’s almost impossible to convince them it will be over and won’t be back again. It has become psychologically difficult to wake up again from such tremendous natural disaster when we watch all reports in social medias and news.In fact, the number of actual deaths has still remained unknown because of lack of infrastructures, communications and resources. The U.S. Geological Survey has warned of additional quakes possible in the area, possibly even larger than the ones over the past few weeks. Considering the situation, Nepalese children who are legally confirmed as orphans eligible for inter country adoption by the government of Nepal have been given humanitarian parole to come to the United States as confirmed by United States Citizenship and Legal Services.

I believe World leader The Rt Hon. Prime Minister David Cameron, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon should show solidarity and help in every possible way. The recent relief provided by different aid organisations is substantial but not far enough to sustain longer in one of the poorest nation, which has came across, 10 years of Maoist and government insurgency. One of the most corrupt nation in the world will soon become a story same as Haiti, where Billions of dollars corruption has led to live millions of people still under tents today. I hope no Leaders will want to hear repeat of such miserable story. Sustainable support will be much appreciated which at this point can help directly through remittance.

The scale of remittance in Nepal is 25 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), which is the highest among the South Asian countries, according to the latest ‘Migration and Development Brief’ published by the World Bank a few years ago. A country, which depends 25% on foreign remittance, 9.8 % of GDP on tourism revenue, has been devastated by many after shocks and doubt in future for the source of income through a small donations and aids. Though it might provide a huge relief at this time but we doubt for long term. Administrative costs makes very difficult to deliver the raised funds to the victims. Considering this, At this point many young working class Nepalese around the globe are either workers or Nepalese Students on different visa schemes. As by law, all the tier routes have specific years they can spend in this country. If the government agrees, to allow Nepalese Students and Nepalese workers to provide a minimum of 2 years of temporary permit to stay then the poorest country in the world can wake up again with a hope for future. Also, we urge governments of Britain not to send any 60 days notice or deportation order to Nepalese students. When we say this, our intention is never to demand a permanent residency rather a beam of hope from a country where generations of our Nepalese served as British Gurkhas at the frontline of World Wars, Iraq, Afghanistan, Argentina, etc which in fact this year marks 200 years of Gurkha service to the British Crown. These remarkable soldiers have made a dignified and distinguished contribution to the British Army. In doing so, many have given their lives. Also, it becomes the responsibility of taking care of poor countries when they suffer a catastrophic disaster by a nation like Great Britain.

The condition back home is really miserable where many students’ parents have almost lost everything.  Aids and support provided by foreign NGOS and INGOS are not sustainable as compared to the option suggested. Such permit by government can actually lead to a sustainable development. This solidarity can change the lives of millions of children’s, help to develop a nation and be back on its feet again. I urge every world leader to support this campaign and show solidarity. I also believe allowing Nepalese for just 2 years as a Temporary Extension to Stay in developed countries like Britain can help millions live under a secure shelter within couple of years.

Thus, this petition has been addressed to Honourable Prime Minister David Cameron, Home Secretary Philipp Hammond, London Mayor Boris Johnson and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon & all UK party leaders urging to show solidarity at this tragic moment. This will, indeed if applied will be an example of humanitarian support creating a wave of encouragement to rest of the world to be followed

Lets collect a thank you message for help and support in nepal and and put together with petition:please click this link for help and support:
