Kathmandu, Dec 13: Leaders of communist parties of Nepal have stressed on the unity of all communist parties for safeguarding nationality.
At a programme organized here today to felicitate one of the founders of country’s communist movement, Khagu Lal Gurung, the leaders underlined the need of forging communist unity when the country’s sovereignty is at stake.
Honouring Gurung, Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli said that the functional unity among all communist parties would only strengthen the country and communist movement. “My honest efforts would continue in bringing together all communist parties towards nation-building effort”, he added.
Marxism is the appropriate principle to end exploitation and discrimination and establish justice in society, he said, lauding contributions of past leaders to enable communist force in the country.
On the occasion, UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal accused the expansionist force of trying to weaken the communist movement when it has emerged strong in Nepal and underscored the need of functional unity among all parties.
He noted that the country is facing the current problem for promulgating the constitution on its own.
At the programme, felicitated leader Gurung, 98, said that his dream has come true when all communist parties of the country stand together.
CPN-Maoist Chairperson Mohan Baidhya, who presided the first session of the programme, appreciated Gurung’s contribution to the advancement of communist movement in Nepal.
CPN-Masal general secretary Mohan Bikram Singh underlined the need for broader unity among communist parties to safeguard nationality when it is under threat.
Rastriya Janamorcha Chairperson and deputy Prime Minister Chitra Bahadur KC said there is no alternative but to forge communist unity to bail the country of crisis.
Also speaking on the occasion were CPN-ML general secretary and Deputy Prime Minister CP Mainali, UCPN (Maoist) leader and Minister for General Administration Rekha Sharma, UML vice-president Bam Dev Gautam and Mani Thapa among others. RSS
