President Bhandari emphasises on boosting academic values

Bidhya_BhandariKathmandu, Dec 2: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged concerned authorities to do everything possible to strengthen academic values and standard, and to prevent politics from entering university as politics finds its leeway in a university with lax norms and values.

Addressing a programme organised in the Capital today to mark the 41st convocation day of Trubhuvan University (TU) as chief guest, President Bhandari said that she hopes that a roadmap would be prepared soon to make changes in the legal procedures needed to develop the TU as top center at the international level.

“Students are yet to get their course completed in time as the academic calendar of some faculties of TU are yet to be implemented effectively. TU’s physical resources are also deteriorating, while modern technologies including information technology are yet to be utilised fully for management, and learning and teaching activities,” she said.

The President said that any act that deviates from getting towards the development path was not forgivable at a time when the country is passing through big crisis due to some political problems.

She said that development of the country would get accelerated only with the joint efforts of all including political parties, the government and non-governmental organisations, professional organisations and people and that the university could play a vital role in creating an environment for the same.

Saying that the trend of educated youths going abroad for employment is a big challenge for the country, the Head of the State urged concerned authorities to incorporate technical and practical subjects in the curriculum that can help create self-employment in the country itself. RSS
