Kathmandu, March 11: The vote counting for provincial central member of the Nepali Congress (NC) will begin from tomorrow.
The election for the same was held during the recently concluded 13th national convention of NC in the capital city. The vote counting will start from 8:00 am at the NC central office in Sanepa, according to the NC Central Election Committee coordinator Radheshyam Adhikari.
As per the Party’s statute, the election was held for seven provinces where two each candidate will be chosen. A total of 13 candidates vied for Province No 1, five for Province No 2, 18 for Province No 3 and nine for Province No 4. Similarly, there were 10 candidates contesting for Province no 5, five in Province no 6 and seven in Province No 7, shared Adhikari.
As of Thursday, the Committee had counted votes of 25 central members under the open category and one under the Muslim quota. The Committee, however, has already started vote counting for women, indigenous groups and nationalities, Madheshi and Dalit candidates for central committee member since Friday, added Committee’s member Gopal Krishna Ghimire.
The Committee formed to conduct and oversee the election for various positions in the NC’s executive committees has been doing vote counting since 10:00 am till 8:00 pm everyday. The results of the elections held in March 6 for a new leadership of the oldest democratic party of the country continues to unfold.
As of Friday, 900 votes were counted out on average for central committee members. A total of 3, 148 votes were casted by 3,161 representatives, shared NC Central Office’s Secretary Prem KC.
The result of the elections for various central committee office-bearers and Muslim candidates were already out according to which Sher Bahadur Deuba was elected President, Dr Shashank Koirala General-Secretary, Sita Devi Yadav as Treasurer and Farmullah Mansur, as a central working committee member from the Muslim quota.
