Kathmandu, Dec 17: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has proposed the formation of a special committee in view of accelerating the constitution amendment proposal tabled in the Legislature-Parliament.
The parliamentary party meeting held at Parliament Building at New Baneswor in Kathmandu Thursday deliberated on the same, according to Chief Whip of NC, Chinkaji Shrestha.
“A special committee could be formed as per the clause 84 of the Parliament Regulations to revise the Proposal,” explained Chief Whip Shrestha.
The Proposal could be passed by two-third of majority after garnering a consensus from all the parliamentarians following thorough deliberations with all political parties, Shrestha said.
Asked how the Proposal on the amendment of newly promulgated constitution could be achieved despite the protest claim from the dissenting United Democratic Madheshi Front that it was incomplete, he replied, “I appeal with the Front to come clear about the reservations it has about the Proposal and clarify why it was incomplete.”
Shrestha was of the view that the Front’s claim on the Proposal was ill-intended. He explained that the issue of demarcation of federal units could be resolved through the Federal Commission. RSS
